Earlier in the week, my facebooked self was ruminating about giving Sarah Palin a basic competencies test. In the wake of her confusing claims to “foreign policy experience” and her occasional deer-in-the-headlights interview persona, plus that awful awful interview with Katie “The Cougar” Couric…well, it had crossed my mind that the prospective Veep might not [...]

Perhaps it is also because I had three gossipers, two Facebookers, several “absence due to illness/surgery/dead grandmother” emails, and an irate student who couldn’t articulate the nature of [...]

And Russia, too!
Unfortunately, the Vanity Fair profile on Putin is one of the articles unavailable on-line, but is worth the cover price.

This just in, from Myanmar
So-called “political prisoners” freed, over 9,000 of them, according to the Myanmar government. This includes long-term prisoner and author Win Tin. However, Aung San Suu Kyi remains under house arrest, and more added, every day.
