Here is an interesting article on Richard Prince&. He’s the dude who takes photographs of other people’s photographs (often advertisements, like the Marlboro Ad featured in the story image) and calls his photographs art. Interesting for you to think about which side you’d take.
Then you might want to read this comprehensive history, in layman’s terms, of the “War on Drugs” in the U.S. from the Nixon administration forward. I’ve heard the Meth story before (there’s a nice documentary) and to some extent the Coke story, but this is a nice story about government policy and the men who have sought to change it, to greater or lesser degrees and with more or less success. It is somewhat depressing to think “plus ca change, plus la meme chose” but I still think it benefits us to know the past. That sounds more didactic than I am intending, but you know what I mean.

Can I comment in my comments to add a link instead of writing a new blog post? Its my birthday, so I can cry if I want to. This Brian Wilson song makes me do just that. Cry. Thanks again, Peter. I consider this revenge for last weekend’s distracting blog post.
